Pricing Data Engineer Build and maintain data infrastructure and tools for consistent, data‑driven pricing across the firm. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to modernize workflows, integrate AI, and improve pricing analysis.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Design and maintain scalable pricing workflows that support consistent matter scoping, budgeting, and financial analysis across the firm
Build and maintain a centralized pricing data infrastructure, consolidating data from multiple systems to support firmwide pricing
Support the development and maintenance of pricing strategies for AI‑enabled legal services and emerging delivery models
Develop and manage data pipelines and queries to support pricing analysis and reporting
Modernize pricing workflows by reducing reliance on manual processes and implementing scalable, system‑driven solutions
Design and deliver pricing tools, including budget builders, scenario modeling, and comparable matter analysis interfaces
Integrate AI capabilities into pricing workflows to enhance analysis, forecasting, and decision‑making
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support effective pricing, planning, and monitoring of matters through data‑driven tools
Establish feedback loops to track performance and continuously improve pricing models, tools, and methodologies
Develop pricing frameworks and unit economics to support AI‑enabled legal work, enabling partners to price, monitor, and refine matters
Design pricing processes to be natively executable using AI tools
Design and maintain a centralized pricing data layer to support consistent data access and usability
Enhance data granularity to enable detailed pricing analysis across phase, task, and resource levels
Ensure consistency, transparency, and governance across all pricing data, tools, and methodologies
Job Specifications Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or related field preferred
Strong SQL and Python skills, with experience building scalable workflows, structured data pipelines, automation, APIs, and reporting solutions
Experience working with AI platforms, automation tools, or AI‑enabled workflows preferred
Knowledge of cloud data warehouses and experience with cloud‑based data platforms and data visualization/reporting tools preferred
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities
Compensation & Benefits Target hiring range: $110,000 – $169,000. Base pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that McDermott Will & Schulte provides to compensate and recognize our staff professionals for their work. Full‑time positions are eligible for a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
