Job Summary:

  • Seeking a skilled Design and Project Engineering leader for the Converting Engineering team to enhance equipment design and efficiency across both large and small projects, making a significant operational impact.
  • Manage the electrical design team and collaborate with other groups to meet functional objectives and deliver excellent service. Develop and execute plans, implement design quality standards, and ensure accuracy in engineering documentation, including drawings and bills of material. Improve documentation accuracy through feedback from assembly and maintenance teams.

Position Purpose:

  • The Principal Electrical Engineer leads capital investment projects worldwide, enhancing manufacturing capabilities through innovative equipment solutions and project management expertise. This role focuses on upgrading manufacturing processes and fostering collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Oversee the Electrical Engineering team in designing and building converting machines, establishing standard practices for project management, including requirement gathering, budget estimation, scheduling, and status updates. Prioritize tasks and monitor project progress.
  • Provide direction and approval for electrical design, gather continuous feedback from stakeholders through design reviews, and contribute design expertise as both a designer and reviewer of engineering drawings.

Duties:

  • Lead design and project engineering efforts, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define scope, budget, and schedules, executing projects to exceed customer expectations.
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams (engineering, EH&S, management, customers, suppliers) to develop cost-effective solutions that meet design criteria.
  • Communicate and align with manufacturing resources, product development, external suppliers, and contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Apply technical expertise to all project phases, including planning, solution development, equipment specification, design, and startup.
  • Identify and assess new technologies to improve yield, throughput, and cost efficiency in existing processes.
  • Document and communication design effectively.
  • Develop contingency plans to prevent project surprises.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited).
  • Minimum of 7 years in design and project engineering, with 4 years managing direct reports.
  • Preferred blend of mechanical and electrical engineering skills.
  • Strong knowledge of HMI Software (e.g., GE Proficy, Rockwell Reviews), Allen Bradley PLCs, VS Drives, Temperature Control, and Industrial Networks, with experience in Control System Design and tuning.
  • Proficient in CAD and engineering tools such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks, MATLAB, and FEA/CFD Simulation. PE license is a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems for documentation.
  • Experience in manufacturing, plastic packaging, or extrusion is a plus.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, collaborative work style, and ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
