Job Summary The Principal Engineer, Project & Mechanical Engineering, will lead strategic technical initiatives focused on automation, capital planning, and equipment reliability for leading vinyl and aluminum fence and railing manufacturer. This role is responsible for managing large-scale engineering projects, developing machine reliability programs, and leveraging enterprise scale to optimize technology and vendor partnerships. The position requires up to 25% travel to manufacturing sites and project locations. Job Location This is an on-site position that needs to be based out of either our Brooksville, FL or Bulls Gap, TN location with travel needed to other sites. Job Responsibilities Manage and own large technical projects including automation initiatives, building upgrades, Greenfield developments, and divestitures. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with strategic objectives. Develop and implement a comprehensive machine reliability program. Create and maintain an equipment register, replacement schedule, and machine performance metrics and expectations. Establish a three-year capital plan for major projects including automation, machine replacement, and capacity expansion. Balance capital allocation across the portfolio to maximize return on net assets. Develop processes and capabilities to leverage organizational scale for competitive advantage. Identify and formalize preferred integrators, technologies, and equipment vendors to standardize and optimize procurement. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Proven experience managing large-scale technical projects and capital planning. Strong knowledge of automation technologies, equipment reliability, and manufacturing processes. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to travel up to 25% of the time. Experience in fencing, railing, or building products industry preferred. Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles and asset management systems. Demonstrated success in vendor management and enterprise-scale optimization.
