Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Principal Engineer to lead the architecture and prototype development of a new Cash Management Account capability within the Wealth Management & Private Banking division. The role focuses on creating an integrated, seamless client experience between brokerage investment accounts and core banking deposit platforms.

This is a greenfield initiative at prototype stage, requiring a leader who combines deep financial product knowledge with strong architectural and full-stack engineering capabilities. The selected individual will define and drive the technical approach end-to-end-from concept through early build-working closely with wealth, brokerage, architecture, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design and technical delivery of the new Cash Management Account capability-defining architecture, data flows, and integration approach end-to-end.
  • Build an early prototype/MVP to demonstrate feasibility and influence program funding.
  • Define and implement the integration layer between:
  • Brokerage platforms
  • Core banking deposit systems (FIS EBS)
  • Wealth digital channels and assisted servicing platforms
  • Payments / Transfer Hub domain services
  • Design and guide development of the Sweep Engine (logic for sweeping cash between investment and deposit accounts based on client rules and preferences).
  • Implement secure, scalable, modern service architecture aligned with enterprise standards (APIs, domain services, events, etc.).
  • Collaborate with product, operations, wealth business stakeholders, and solution architects to align requirements and experience flow.
  • Mentor, guide, and (optionally) coordinate a small supporting full-stack engineering team.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Domain Expertise
  • Direct experience designing or working with brokerage cash management products, sweep programs, or integrated investment/banking experiences.
  • Strong understanding of wealth client operations, investment accounts, positions, funding flows, and deposit account servicing.
  • Familiarity with U.S. cash sweep structures, FDIC insurance strategies, cash allocation rules, and brokerage-bank integration models.

Technical Leadership

  • 10+ years engineering experience with 3+ in principal / lead engineer capacity.
  • Ability to drive solution design from scratch (architecture, modeling, interfaces, data contracts).
  • Demonstrated success building prototypes and early-stage products in large organizations.

Technology Skills

  • Strong hands-on programming in Java or Python, with experience in modern microservices architecture.
  • Experience building API-driven and event-driven distributed systems.
  • Understanding Angular UI integration is beneficial.
  • Experience integrating with:
  • Core banking systems (e.g., FIS EBS, Finastra, Temenos, Flexcube, etc.)
  • Brokerage / wealth platforms
  • Payment hubs, domain services, workflow engines (PEGA optional)

Preferred Background

  • Experience working in Wealth Management or Private Banking divisions
  • Experience building cash sweep / liquidity / treasury funding features.
  • Previous contribution to new product incubation or architecture modernization programs.
