The production of electrical building services designs predominantly for Railway Stations and other Railway Buildings, working individually or as part of a team. Prepare, coordinate, and monitor a project, from the initial conception to the schedule and final completion. Supervise and mentor Assistant Engineers/ Engineers in day to day activities. Responsibilities Design of low voltage reticulation and distribution systems (230/400 Volt) including UPS sources. Operation of AMTECH software to produce design for low voltage systems including selection of cable types, protective devices and self-checking and presentation of results. Design of general lighting systems. Design of emergency lighting systems. Good working knowledge of different lighting types and sources (including LED types). Operation of industry standard lighting design software for the design of general and emergency lighting systems. Design of cable management systems (CMS) including trunking, tray, and conduits and the preparation of CMS sizing calculations and self-checking and presentation of results. Presentation of design onto schematic and 2D layout drawings. Use of Bentley Microstation and AECOsim to model in 3D MEP services including but not limited to cable management systems, pipework, ductwork etc. in 3D, including generating 2D sections from 3D models for incorporation into drawings. Understanding of BIM and working within a Common Data Environment, preferably Bentley ProjectWise. Supervise and verify the work performed by the designers/ modelers to meet the requirements of the project. Interpretation of client specification requirements written in English in the development of designs. Operation of Microsoft Office package, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Guide Assistant Engineers/Engineers in day to day work for the development of electrical designs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Qualifications Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. Experience of 8‑11 years of working with electrical design. Qualifications meeting the requirements for Chartership with a Engineering Institution. Qualifications in the requirements of BS7671, BS5266 etc. (e.g. City & Guilds Requirements for Electrical Installations (2382)). Extensive experience of working within a rail station environment and good working knowledge of Network Rail, TfL & LUL standards. Experience of contributing to the electrical design on multidisciplinary projects and knowledge of rail design assurance processes. Good knowledge and understanding of the requirements necessary to develop and progress projects through the early stages of the lifecycle – LUL, GRIP and RIBA. Competent in the production or modification of CAD drawings using an industry standard CAD system. Experience of electrical design in the rail environment. Background Verification Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification (“BGV”) check conducted by a third‑party agency appointed by WSP India.
