Position
Principal Engineer – Hardware, Research & Development Engineering – Beverly, MA.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership for development of electronic systems to be utilized in next‑generation atomic clocks.
Liaise with Software and Mechanical Design Teams to ensure robust and producible product designs.
Provide FMA and other troubleshooting support to production on new and existing products.
With the Hardware Engineering Manager, guide and mentor a focused group of electrical engineers on best practices for new product development and sustaining engineering.
Develop and execute test and qualification plans for engineering prototypes.
Design and capture schematics using the CAD suite, and work closely with the layout designer to ensure a working and manufacturable design.
Manage electrical designs in the Product Lifecycle Management tool Agile – creating bills of material and engineering change orders.
Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years of relevant experience in hardware design.
Complete understanding of analog designs such as active filters and control loops.
Strong knowledge of mixed‑signal circuits and data converters.
Knowledge of physical layer digital interfaces such as USB, SPI, and I²C.
Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, product and process specifications, and Statements of Work.
Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and interfacing with peers and management in a corporate setting.
Proficiency in technical research and drafting of design reports.
Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools; experience using Agile desired.
Component selection for space applications with radiation requirements desirable.
Experience with programmable logic (FPGA/CPLD) and HDL (VHDL/Verilog) design preferred.
RF and microwave synthesis knowledge preferred.
Crystal oscillator design experience preferred.

Pay Range: $75,000–$232,000 (U.S.) based on location, skills, and experience.
