Principal (Founding/Lead) Product Designer

Who we are looking for:
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Principal (Founding/Lead) Product Designer to join our growing Product team. As a Principal Product Designer leading the product experience, you will play a pivotal role in defining and shaping user experiences for our world-class cross-platform shopping experience. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, participate in user research, and design user interfaces that not only meet users' needs but also elevate the company to the next level.

Responsibilities:

  • Product Strategy & Planning:

    • Innovate and define the product experience to establish a new category as an intelligent purchasing tool.
    • Gain a deep understanding of customer needs and jobs to be done through human-centered research using various generative and evaluative research methodologies.
    • Advance a strong point of view, backed by personal expertise, design rationale, customer data, and industry trends.
    • Participate in defining the high-level product strategy and road map for the company. Lead the design of all aspects of the product experience, including mobile apps, websites, and browser extensions.
    • Communicate the product roadmap and strategy with stakeholders at all levels to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • User-Centered Design:

    • Lead the end-to-end design process, from participating in user research to identifying customer needs, crafting, and iterating on design solutions, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes.
    • Create visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces that align with brand guidelines and enhance the overall user experience.
    • Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into user-centric design solutions.
    • Lead product design across all platforms, including web, iOS app, Android, and browser extensions.
  • Design Leadership:

    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in UX design.
    • Work with PMs, engineers, the marketing team, and the customer team to ensure design success.
    • Build the product design team as needed.
  • Design System:

    • Define and maintain design systems, style guides, and UI component libraries for different platforms.
    • Ensure consistency across all platforms, enabling scalability, efficiency, and a cohesive user experience.
    • Ensure designs are accessible to a wide range of users, including those with disabilities, and adhere to relevant accessibility standards and guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of proven experience as a UX designer or in a similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
  • Mastery of UX design tools such as Figma, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and usability best practices.
  • Extensive experience with app-first design.
  • Experience designing innovative products from 0 to 1 and scaling them from 1 to 10.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a remote startup environment.
  • Experience executing a rebrand for consumer-facing products.
  • Passion for fashion, shopping, e-commerce, or online retail.
