Our client is seeking a Principal Geologist & Vice President of Geological Services to lead their geological practices and drive strategic initiatives within the organization. This role is crucial for developing and implementing geological service strategies to support various projects while ensuring the highest quality standards and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, manage, and develop the Geological Services team to meet project objectives while ensuring safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Assign projects, oversee scheduling, and manage team members’ workloads and professional development.
- Conduct performance reviews and mentor staff through ongoing training and development opportunities.
Client Relationship Management & Business Development
- Serve as a key point of contact for major clients, ensuring the highest level of satisfaction and developing opportunities for additional work.
- Lead client meetings, progress updates, and closeout communications to foster strong, ongoing partnerships.
- Actively contribute to business development and growth strategies to expand the division's portfolio.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure that all geological services adhere to federal, state, and client regulations.
- Review and approve deliverables for accuracy and regulatory compliance, including sealing documents when required.
- Implement best practices to maintain consistent, high-quality service across all projects.
Strategic Planning & Succession Planning
- Participate in long-term business planning and contribute to the company’s strategic goals.
- Support recruitment and succession planning efforts to ensure a strong pipeline of qualified professionals.
- Lead workforce planning activities and guide the recruitment of top-tier talent within the geological services sector.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Geological Services team, ensuring project budgets and timelines are adhered to.
- Develop and maintain operational processes that improve efficiency and support the team's growth and success.
- Monitor and evaluate team performance, providing actionable feedback and coaching to enhance skills and productivity.
Training & Development
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff members, fostering a learning environment that encourages professional growth.
- Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to ensure the team’s ongoing education and compliance.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology or related field.
- Licensed Professional Geologist (P.G.) in the state of Pennsylvania or equivalent.
- At least 10 years of experience in geological or environmental consulting, with a focus on project management and leadership.
- Extensive experience in managing geological services for environmental consulting, oil & gas, or related sectors.
- Proven track record in client management, project delivery, and business development.
- Expertise in geology/hydrology modeling, including familiarity with the Pennsylvania Act 2 program or its equivalent.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Advanced knowledge of geological consulting practices in environmental remediation, site investigations, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in the upstream oil and gas industry is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform field work as required (up to 10% of time).
- Comfortable with wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) on job sites.
