Job Description Could you bring clarity to complexity by designing solutions that keep training operations on track for one of the most critical training programs in the country? The Training Applications and Support (TAS) organization, part of the Naval Training & Simulation (NTS) Department, provides applications used by personnel at the Moored Training Ships and Kesselring Site to manage activities for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Training Program (NNPTP) Prototype phase of training. TAS has developed optimization models that help manage the Training Program effectively. We are seeking a Software Developer to maintain and enhance these optimization models. Experience with executing the NNPTP is preferred, along with skills in applied mathematics to solve complex problems. Major duties include maintaining optimization code in the GAMS language, keeping documentation and configuration control up‑to‑date, and working with NPTU personnel and other NTS units to ensure models accurately reflect real‑world conditions. The Software Developer will collaborate with stakeholders to identify improvements and modernize the TCM product. Additionally, the role will lead efforts to use data analytics to provide insights that improve Training Program management. This position may be based at either NPTU-C or KS. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
