Job Description

Our client, a leading professional services firm, is seeking a Private Client Services (PCS) Tax Director to provide sophisticated tax compliance, consulting, and advisory services to high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, estates, and closely held businesses. This role is ideal for a seasoned tax professional who combines strong technical expertise with client leadership, practice development, and team management experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to high-net-worth individuals and their families on complex tax matters, including income, gift, estate, and trust taxation
  • Oversee and review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, trusts, estates, and closely held entities
  • Provide strategic tax planning related to wealth transfer, succession planning, estate planning, charitable giving, and multigenerational wealth preservation
  • Manage and deepen client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact
  • Lead, mentor, and develop PCS tax professionals at various levels
  • Collaborate with partners and firm leadership on practice growth initiatives and cross-service offerings
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities; support proposal development and client presentations
  • Monitor regulatory and tax law changes affecting private clients and communicate implications to clients and internal teams


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (Master’s in Taxation or JD strongly preferred)
  • CPA or JD required (LLM a plus)
  • 10+ years of progressive tax experience within a public accounting firm, with significant PCS focus
  • Strong technical knowledge of individual, trust, estate, and closely held business taxation
  • Proven experience managing client relationships and leading engagement teams
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and people development capabilities
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
