Position Title: Process Automation EngineerLocation: Pueblo, ColoradoA leading steel manufacturing facility in Pueblo, Colorado is seeking a Process Automation Engineer to join its Maintenance team. This role focuses on enhancing industrial automation systems and supporting production operations through innovative process control solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide technical support for automation systems in steelmaking and rolling mill operations.Design, develop, and implement control systems (hardware and software) to improve production efficiency, product quality, equipment reliability, and energy usage.Develop a thorough understanding of plant-wide control systems and their impact across the production lifecycle-from scrap melting to final product output.Analyze and enhance programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and human-machine interfaces (HMIs) to optimize system performance.Create and monitor performance metrics, ensuring effective integration between control systems and enterprise information platforms.Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to process control systems, taking full ownership of problem resolution.Prepare technical documentation including system requirements, high-level designs, and architecture specifications.Lead and manage automation-related projects from planning through implementation.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automated Manufacturing, or a related technical field.At least 5 years of relevant experience in industrial automation.Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, drives, and HMI systems; ability to interpret technical schematics (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic).Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.Willingness to be on-call and respond to urgent operational needs.
