The Polymer Productsoperationsat S&C is a world leader for manufacturing medium voltage epoxy insulationproducts.The engineering teamatPolymer Productssupportsoperationsteamto achieve the yield goalsthrough process controls, molddesigns,and trainings;seeks continuous improvement withmanufacturingprocesses, mold designs,tools,andequipmentthrough improvement and capital projects;addressesand resolvesquality concernsobservedwith manufactured productsthroughproblem-solvingactivities;andsupportsnew product/processdevelopmentthroughdesign,procurement, installation, and startup. The candidate considered for this positionwillworkon-site at S&C Headquarters in Chicago, Illinoissupporting thePolymerProductsprocessengineering teamandreport to the Manager-ProcessEngineering. Key Responsibilities: Provide high quality engineering support to the operations team towards achieving the target yield and scrap goals by identifying and resolving operations issues. Improve operational efficiency and reliabilitythroughcontinuousimprovement of processes, tools/equipment,manufacturedproducts, andautomation. Write detailedspecifications for theprocess/equipmentdesignsoughtfor effectivetranslationduringrequest for quote,procurement,build, installation, and start up. Effecti velyplan,coordinate,and supervise processequipment installation and startup. C onduct experiments, collect and analyze process data using statistical tools,writeclear, conciseengineering test reportsdescribing the test procedures, results,analyses, and conclusions. Cre ate instruction bulletinsor process specification proceduresforstandard work practicesrelatedtomanufacturingtooling/processes. What you’ll Need To Succeed: Required Bachelor's degreefroman accredited university majoring inChemicalEngineeringor other related Engineering discipline. Preferred is Chemical Engineering. 6 +years of relevant experiencein manufacturing environment involving processesand tools. Strong Analyticalandproblem-solvingskills. Strong o rganizationand presentationskills, including ability to map out projects, prioritize workloads andmaintaindocumentation. Ability to work independently with verylimitedsupervision. A bilitytowork with people in a production/plant environment. Ability to plan andlead projects, problem-solvingand trainingactivities. Proficiency in the use of PC using Word, Excel,Visio,Project, and Access. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. CAD or simulation softwareskills preferred. Physical Requirements: Standing: Occasional standing on production floor for troubleshooting or equipment startup. Lifting: Occasional lifting of production parts and tooling less than 50 pounds. Walking: Frequent walking throughout the facility both indoors and outdoors. Carrying: Occasional carrying of light objects such as measuring equipment, prints, etc. Pushing: Infrequent pushing of objects, possibly relatedto production support,startupwork. Pulling: Infrequent pulling of objects, possibly relatedto production support,startupwork. Bending: Occasional bending during production support, startupwork. Reaching: Infrequent reaching.
