Position Summary

The Process Improvement Manager for Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) is responsible for analyzing, optimizing, and streamlining workflows across the revenue cycle to improve efficiency, accuracy, and financial performance. This role collaborates closely with operations, billing, coding, and IT teams to identify bottlenecks, standardize processes, implement automation, and ensure best practices across all RCM functions from patient intake to collections.

Salary Range: $80,000 to $100,000

Key Responsibilities

Process Optimization & Strategy

  • Evaluate current RCM workflows to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement in billing, collections, denials management, and cash posting.
  • Design and implement process improvement strategies using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Develop performance metrics and dashboards to track key revenue cycle indicators (e.g., AR days, denial rate, clean claim rate, cash collections).
  • Lead initiatives to standardize processes across multiple sites or regions to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Evaluate RCM workflows across multiple clinics to identify inefficiencies in front-end registration, charge capture, coding, billing, and collections.
  • Develop and implement process improvement plans that increase clean claim rates, reduce denials, and shorten AR days.
  • Standardize revenue cycle procedures across all clinics to ensure consistent performance and compliance.
  • Collaborate with clinic managers and front-office staff to improve accuracy in patient registration, insurance verification, and copay collections.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Partner with RCM leadership, IT, and finance to define improvement priorities and align on business goals.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental meetings to gather input and ensure smooth implementation of process changes.
  • Train and mentor team members on process improvement techniques and data-driven decision making.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for process improvement tools and methodologies within the RCM department.
  • Partner closely with Clinic Operations, Finance, and IT to align revenue goals and operational initiatives.
  • Conduct on-site workflow assessments and provide actionable feedback to clinic leadership.
  • Facilitate process improvement meetings and present performance findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Provide coaching and training for staff and managers on revenue cycle best practices, documentation standards, and process adherence.

Technology & Automation

  • Work with IT and vendor partners to implement automation tools or EHR optimizations that streamline workflows.
  • Evaluate and recommend technology solutions that drive efficiency (e.g., workflow automation, AI-driven denial management tools).
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, and training materials related to system updates or new workflows.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Conduct root cause analyses on revenue cycle performance metrics and create action plans to address underlying issues.
  • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Create visual performance dashboards and reports that measure the impact of process improvements.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in Revenue Cycle Management with at least 2 years focused on process improvement or project management.

Proven track record of driving measurable improvements in AR, denial reduction, and reimbursement processes.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with advanced proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar analytics tools.

Excellent communication, presentation, and change management skills.

Experience with RCM software platforms
