Overview Basic Function HF Sinclair refinery located in Anacortes, WA is seeking a Process Operator who is responsible for learning the skills to operate their assigned processing unit. The Process Operator performs work as directed by supervision and follows written or oral instructions regarding process conditions to maintain specifications, meet production requirements, and manage stock product routing and disposal. The Process Operator will direct and participate in operations of the assigned equipment in accordance with orders and minimal supervision and will follow established procedures. Responsibilities Supports the refinery safety process and maintains on-the-job safety vigilance Works rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays as scheduled Responds to callouts and holdovers Reviews daily orders at shift relief Checks instruments, records rounds in PM schedule, checks equipment and ensures operation and equipment conform to operating requirements Operates equipment manually and/or by instrument/computer control, maintaining temperatures, pressures, levels, and other process variables to meet planned production and quality Fires furnaces, operates pumps, sets lines and manifolds, changes blinds and jump-overs, operates compressors, gauges tanks, draws samples, runs control tests, sends samples to the Lab, and adjusts chemical injection rates Repairs equipment as required within ability and safety; requests maintenance support as necessary Performs other work such as lubricating equipment, cleanup and housekeeping Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion. Experience and Education Experience Previous Process Operator or Chemical Operator experience preferred. Education Level High school diploma or GED required. Associate Degree or two-year technical process degree preferred. Required Skills Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis now and in the future without requiring sponsorship Must be at least 18 years of age Must currently hold or can qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Note, information regarding TWIC qualification standards may be found at Must be able to read, speak, and write English fluently and understand operating procedures Must demonstrate competency at using a process computer interface to manipulate and control an operating process unit Formal education and/or training related to production operations or a related skill area is preferred Previous experience in a petrochemical facility, an industrial or manufacturing environment or prior military experience and/or training is preferred Emergency Response and/or Fire Fighting training, experience, and/or certification is preferred Must possess and maintain a current valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States Satisfactory results on HF Sinclair's pre-employment testing battery Comply with the company's drug-free work environment, including random drug screenings As part of the pre-employment selection process, candidates are required to submit to and receive satisfactory results from a pre-employment medical screening, background check, and drug tests With or without reasonable accommodations, be willing to work at heights, climb ladders and stairs, walk on high elevation grating, work in inclement weather, work around loud industrial equipment, work in compact and confined spaces, and work outdoors Must be able to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule (including night, weekends, holidays and overtime) Willing to be on-call and meet call-out standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies The company emphasizes safety in all phases of its business.
