Position Summary

The Procurement Specialist facilitates the timely and economical acquisition of standard and non-standard products required by the business. The ideal candidate for this job is energetic, inquisitive, organized, detail-oriented and not afraid to get their hands dirty.


Essential Job Functions

  • Source, negotiate and procure materials, services, supplies and other commodities as required by the business.
  • Evaluate, select, monitor, and maintain relationships with vendors.
  • Execute order administration in adherence with spend and inventory targets.
  • Maintain inventory targets factoring risk, lead time, and supply chain constraints.
  • Mitigate risk to prevent supply interruptions while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist in determining min/max levels.
  • Create purchase orders based on observed stock levels and forecasted demand.
  • Analyze and resolve purchasing issues/discrepancies including invoice issues.
  • Perform various tasks to support our Maintenance team, including helping to implement an inventory system for our maintenance parts and managing the procurement of those parts.
  • All other duties assigned.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant procurement experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills
  • Demonstrated cost/price analysis skills
  • Ability to use knowledge of procurement regulations to negotiate orders, evaluate and select vendors, determine appropriate costs and price, and closeout all types of purchase orders and/or subcontracts.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Exceptional prioritization, organization, and time management skills with strong attention to detail required.
  • Ability to tactfully handle tight deadlines when required.
  • Self-managed with the ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment with rapidly changing priorities.

Physical Demands

  • Standing and walking up to 8 hours
  • Able to lift and carry 25 to 50 lbs.
  • Able to continually bend, stoop, twist, use arms, wrists and hands (including grasping and squeezing) throughout shift
  • Able to occasionally kneel, reach above the shoulder, work at heights and climb steps with ingredients weighing 25 to 50 lbs.
