This role is part of the Siemens Smart Infrastructure – eMobility R&D organization, working alongside global engineering teams to develop world‑class charging hardware.About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced R&D Product Design Manager to lead mechanical, electrical and product design activities for Siemens' next-generation EV charging hardware. You will drive the design of robust, safe, and highly manufacturable high‑power DC chargers. You will lead a multidisciplinary design team, collaborate across global Siemens R&D hubs, and ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality, sustainability, safety, and customer experience.ResponsibilitiesProduct & Mechanical Design LeadershipLead the end‑to‑end design of EV charging products within the Siemens Smart Infrastructure portfolio.Own the mechanical architecture, enclosure design, thermal management, materials selection, and environmental protection concepts (IP, IK, corrosion).Ensure designs meet Siemens PLM gates, regulatory standards, certification requirements, and sustainability targets.Team Leadership & People DevelopmentLead, mentor, and grow a team of system, mechanical and product design engineers.Foster a culture of ownership, openness, and continuous learning aligned with Siemens’ leadership principles.Promote cross-site collaboration with teams in Europe, the US, and Asia.System Integration & Cross-Functional CollaborationCollaborate closely with electrical engineering, power electronics, firmware, industrial design, testing, and product management.Engage early with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to ensure DFM/DFA and a smooth transfer to production.Work within Siemens’ structured product development framework (e.g., PM@Siemens, agile processes).Technical ExcellenceReview and guide CAD and mechanical design work using Siemens' tools and PLM systems (Teamcenter).Drive DFMEA, design reviews, engineering calculations, tolerance analyses, and reliability engineering.Ensure robustness across thermal, mechanical, environmental, and user safety aspects.Innovation & SustainabilityIdentify and integrate new materials, cooling methods, and manufacturing technologies supporting Siemens' sustainability commitments.Drive innovation initiatives for next-gen charging systems (e.g., modularity, manufacturability, ease of installation, field serviceability).Support Siemens’ circular economy and CO₂‑reduction goals in component and material choices.Project & Stakeholder ManagementManage timelines, deliverables, and risks for multiple development projects.Present technical decisions, trade-offs, and progress to R&D leadership and product stakeholders.Ensure compliance with Siemens quality processes and global product standards (IEC, UL, CE).QualificationsDegree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Product Design, Mechatronics, or related technical field.7+ years of relevant experience in mechanical product design, preferably in power electronics, energy systems, or industrial hardware.Strong CAD and PLM experience (preferably Siemens NX and Teamcenter).Proven ability to lead engineering teams in a matrix/global organization.Strong knowledge of DFM/DFA, injection molding, sheet metal design, cooling systems, and sealings.Experience working within structured development processes and quality gates.Required SkillsExperience with EV chargers, high‑power electronics, or related equipment.Familiarity with standards such as IEC 61851, UL standards, IP/IK, and electrical safety norms.Experience with sustainability-driven design, material optimization.Knowledge of Agile working methods within hardware development.Pay range and compensation packageThe opportunity to shape global infrastructure for the future of sustainable mobility.
