Job Description

Product Development Assistant

On-Site | Hicksville, NY

We’re looking for a high-energy, detail-driven Product Development Assistant to join our growing consumer products team in Hicksville, NY.

This is a hands-on, on-site role supporting the development of exciting confectionery, souvenir, and branded consumer products. It’s an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional with exposure to product development, marketing, or business operations who wants to learn how products actually go from idea to shelf.

Important note: This is not a software development, data science, or technology role.

What You’ll Do

As a key supporting member of the Product Development team, you’ll be involved in all pre-production phases, working cross-functionally to help bring new products to market.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the Product Development team across multiple product lines, including branded and private-label confectionery
  • Assist with the development of new products and packaging concepts using market data and trend insights
  • Learn and participate in market research, competitive analysis, sourcing, costing, and pricing recommendations
  • Manage timelines and priorities to ensure product requests are delivered on schedule
  • Coordinate and fulfill product and packaging sample requests for evaluations, customer meetings, and trade shows
  • Assist in building product cost breakdowns and Bills of Materials (BOMs), including raw materials, components, labor, and other inputs
  • Maintain accurate documentation throughout the development process
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Creative, Operations, Quality, and other internal teams to ensure products are vetted and approved for launch
  • Communicate with domestic and international third-party vendors for product and packaging sourcing
  • Support marketing and launch materials for new product introductions

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Process-oriented mindset with the ability to follow and improve systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a creative, solutions-focused approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Product Development minor or relevant internship experience
  • 1–2 years of experience in Product Development or Product Management within manufacturing or CPG

Why Join Us?

  • Hands-on exposure to the full product development lifecycle
  • Opportunity to work on tangible, consumer-facing products
  • Learn from experienced product, sourcing, and operations professionals
  • Join a well-established, growing Long Island company
  • Strong foundation role with clear career growth potential
