Description of Duties:

Title: Product Development Manager

Classification: Exempt

Salary Range*: $80k-90k

Location: On-Site, Van Nuys CA

DEN is looking for an exceptional Product Development Manager to join our growing team in Los Angeles. This is an on-site position, reporting to the VP of Sourcing and Product Development, and serves a critical role in helping support our Design and Product teams, and manage style development with our global vendors/mills from initial concept through production handover. Your role will be focused on delivering to critical dates, executing the brand vision and hitting profitability goals. You will collaborate closely with Design, Merchandising, Technical Design and Production to effectively execute product development goals and deliverables.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee development calendar each season to allow sufficient time for proper development and delivery of SMS
  • Manage workflow and ensure critical deadlines are met between Design, Techincal Design and overseas vendors
  • Work closely with Design to develop seasonal trim/hardware/concepts
  • Manage fabric sourcing and deliveries with vendors and mills; place sample orders for all nominated qualities
  • Partner with Design to develop products that meet brand aesthetic, seasonal design intentions, cost/margin goals, and business needs
  • Coordinate development fittings to review samples for fit comments
  • Communicate with cross functional teams through all stages of development to manage expectations and keep the team informed of any potential problems and concerns
  • Work with Design to follow merch plan requests and manage overdevelopment and spending.
  • Track and manage development budget for fabric and SMS
  • Track sample requests from proto through SMS stage, including delivery dates, status, etc.
  • Issue SMS POs and secure on-time delivery
  • Request and review cost sheets from vendors through all stages of development Recognize opportunities where counter-sourcing is necessary to meet margin goals
  • Attend costing review meetings to flag any margin-challenged styles/groups; negotiate with vendors by providing target costs and simplify technical aspects of design without jeopardizing overall quality and aesthetic
  • Serve as primary contact for all vendors/agents throughout development for daily communication, calendar distribution, development plans, costing, design requests, invoice approvals, etc.

Administrative/Data Logging Management

  • Create and maintain updated PD workbooks
  • Contribute to weekly recaps sent to all teams highlighting current spending, development counts, and upcoming deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Development experience 5-8 years preferred but not limited
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Sheets
  • Computer proficiency in Photoshop & Illustrator
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail
  • Flexible and adaptable in a rapidly growing company
