POSITION SUMMARY:
- Provide engineering support for mechanical and gearing aspects of existing gearmotor product line.
- This position will be relied upon for technical knowledge and expertise, for minor design updates, re-tooling efforts, testing and qualification support, and other technical support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze and evaluate existing gear and mechanical component designs.
- Conduct design and stress calculations for existing gear designs; primarily in accordance with AGMA specs
- Create, update, and review drawings and other product documentation
- Provide manufacturing support and process feedback to ensure production meets design intent and requirements
- Evaluate and provide feedback on gear and CMM inspection reports
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or similar) from an accredited college or university, and at least 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated and in-depth knowledge of gearing and AGMA calculations.
- Preference for solid understanding of both the manufacturing process and for design calculations
- Ability to read and interpret gear inspection data and reports
- Ability to ensure alignment of design intent and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to clearly communicate with a wide range of audiences, at multiple locations.
Additional Characteristics:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
