Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Product Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development and lifecycle of our products, ensuring they meet market needs and align with our business goals. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills.
The Product Manager supports the development, launch, and lifecycle management of AFX’s lighting product portfolio. This role works closely with engineering, sales, marketing, supply chain, and customer service teams to help bring new lighting products to market and maintain the success of existing product lines. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their product career who is interested in the lighting industry and eager to grow with hands-on mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development Support
- Assist in managing new product development (NPD) timelines, tracking milestones, and coordinating cross-functional activities.
- Support creation of product specifications, technical documentation, and product briefs.
- Collaborate with engineering and sourcing teams on prototypes, samples, and product testing feedback.
- Review customer and market feedback to identify opportunities for improvements or new product features.
Product Lifecycle & Maintenance
- Monitor product performance, sales trends, and inventory levels to help guide lifecycle decisions (e.g., enhancements, cost updates, discontinuations).
- Maintain product data accuracy across all systems, catalogs, spec sheets, and digital platforms.
- Assist with managing SKU setup, updates, pricing changes, and specification revisions.
Sales & Marketing Collaboration
- Support creation of product marketing materials, including spec sheets, digital assets, website content, and product guides.
- Prepare internal and customer-facing presentations and product training materials.
- Provide product information and troubleshooting support for the sales, customer service, and rep network.
Market Research
- Monitor industry trends, competitor products, and market shifts in lighting technology, design, and controls.
- Collect customer feedback and analyze market needs to support roadmap planning.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Industrial Design, Engineering, or a related field
- 5-7 years of experience in product management, marketing, or project coordination (lighting, electrical, or manufacturing experience is a plus but not required)
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and basic data analysis; comfort using modern digital and AI-assisted tools to support analysis, documentation, and reporting
- Ability to leverage AI tools (e.g., generative AI or analytics platforms) to assist with tasks such as market research, competitive comparisons, product documentation, and internal communications
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the judgment to validate AI-generated outputs before use
- Familiarity with product documentation, including spec sheets, CAD drawings, BOMs, and testing reports
- Strong understanding of product pricing, cost analysis, and margin calculations
