Overview A Product Marketing Manager in the Systems Irvine Business Unit at MKS leads the launch and growth of a new product segment, encompassing optical systems, light sources, sensors, lens assemblies, optics, coating, and manufacturing services. The role is strategic, reporting directly to the Director of Product Marketing, and focuses on emerging customers and internal stakeholders to maximize growth, profit, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities Own the success of team, product, and product line business.
Direct development of market requirements for new markets, including product strategy definition, requirements analysis, and pricing.
Drive business plans, manage lifecycles, and position products in the marketplace.
Translate broad concepts and business strategies into structured product marketing plans.
Conduct market research, monitor competitive activity, and identify customer needs.
Establish pricing strategies.
Collaborate with engineering, operations, supply chain, and sales to enhance existing product(s) or product line(s).
Lead new product definition and business plans with joint departments.
Serve as the technical advisor for specific assigned product(s).
Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure efficient operation of the function.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a science, engineering, or technical discipline preferred.
5+ years of experience in product management, product marketing, or business leadership within a technology‑driven environment.
3+ years of experience in optical systems or laser technologies with the ability to act as a technical advisor.
Proven ability to define and execute product strategies, roadmaps, and lifecycle management.
Strong business acumen with demonstrated success in driving growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
Experience conducting market research, competitive analysis, and pricing strategy development.
Skilled at translating broad concepts and business goals into structured product plans.
Collaborative leader with experience working cross‑functionally with engineering, operations, supply chain, and sales.
Strong communication and presentation skills, able to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to travel up to 30%.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions Must be able to communicate information and ideas clearly, exchange accurate information, operate in a professional office and/or laboratory manufacturing environment, and spend extended periods sitting, standing, or typing. Must be able to observe documents and details at close range and handle mechanical and electrical hardware, high voltage, gas, water, and heat safely. Noise level is usually average.
Compensation and Benefits Salary Pay Range: $110,000 to $160,000 per year. Eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.
