Position summary
The basic function of the Production Assembler is to efficiently assemble various electrical, mechanical, PC board, metal, plastic parts to form a complete medical instrument component and or unit. Some assembly work involves soldering components. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and understand a BOM Bill of Material.
- Be able to read and follow operational procedures.
- Use of jigs and test equipment.
- Utilize basic soldering equipment such as soldering iron and solder sucker.
- Utilize wire cutting and stripping equipment.
- Build electrical cables; cut & strip cable, crimp terminals & insert into connectors.
- Operate test fixture to evaluate cables.
- Assemble electrical components onto PC boards. (Integrated Circuits, Diodes, Resistors, wires, switches, etc.).
- Mechanical assembly.
- Inspect parts prior to assembling.
- The use of various equipment and handheld tools as required.
- Met production real time production standards.
- Other duties, responsibilities, and directives that may be assigned by management are expected to be performed.
Qualifications/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior Assembly and or Soldering experience.
- Motivated team player.
- Ability to communicate well.
- Good attention to detail.
- Lean Manufacturing experiences a plus but not required.
- Good hand to eye coordination.
- Strong sense of time, organization, and urgency.
- Experience using soldering and common hand tools.
- Basic math skills
- Ability to distinguish assorted colors.
- Able to work independently and within a team.
Working Conditions
This is an indoor job requiring extensive repetitive use of hand tools and the ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in a temperature-controlled environment.
Physical Requirements
- Use of hands is required to occasionally operate various equipment and hand tools.
- The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, the employee must always ask for help with lifting items that weigh over 50 lbs.
- Required to follow all safety policies and wear safety glasses and other personal protective equipment as required.
