PRODUCTION MANAGER

The Production Manager oversees and directs the production operations of the facility, ensuring efficient and timely production within set quality standards. This role requires coordination with various departments to meet organizational objectives and compliance with all production-related standards and regulations. This role will also be responsible for overseeing the quality assurance and testing phase of software and product development. This role ensures that all products or systems meet the desired quality standards before release. A key aspect of the job is to manage the entire test process, from planning, scheduling, and coordination to execution and reporting.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead daily manufacturing operations across assembly, integration, and test.
  • Own operational KPIs including on-time delivery, throughput, labor efficiency, yield, and equipment uptime.
  • Drive production planning, labor planning, capacity management, and execution discipline.
  • Oversee PCBA and electro-mechanical assembly operations, including bench testing and environmental testing (thermal, vibration, burn-in).
  • Partner with Engineering to support NPI and transition products from design to manufacturing.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100/ISO quality systems, ESD controls, and aerospace workmanship standards.
  • Lead corrective actions and root cause investigations for quality issues and non-conformances.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to resolve material constraints and maintain production flow.
  • Build and develop high-performing teams through training, cross-training, and leadership development.
  • Champion Lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, line balancing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide clear communication of production status, risks, and performance to leadership and program stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute production schedules and labor plans to meet operational demand and changing priorities.
  • Ensure production readiness by confirming material availability, tooling, work instructions, equipment readiness, and staffing coverage.
  • Establish and lead daily floor management cadence including start-of-shift alignment, floor walks, escalations, and end-of-shift reporting.
  • Identify and resolve constraints related to materials, process flow, equipment, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems for work order execution, labor planning, and material readiness tracking.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering OR equivalent experience with 5+ years of manufacturing leadership.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing operations or production leadership within a regulated quality system (AS9100, ISO9001, or similar).
  • Experience leading production teams in electronics manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of PCBA assembly, electro-mechanical builds, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with bench testing operations and production-level test execution.
  • Familiarity with environmental testing (thermal, vibration, burn-in, or similar).
  • Proven ability to manage production schedules, labor planning, and execution against KPIs.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems for work order management and BOM structures.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 (Class 3 preferred).
  • Lean / Six Sigma experience.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, space systems, optics/photonics, or mission-critical hardware manufacturing.
  • DFMEA/PFMEA and structured root cause experience (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. unassisted.
  • Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed. Up to 10% travel.
