Job Summary

NexGen Steel is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee and optimize daily manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for managing production staff, resources, workflows, quality standards, and budgets while working closely with leadership and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate has strong manufacturing leadership experience, a process-improvement mindset, and the ability to scale operations efficiently.


Responsibilities


Process Management & Optimization

  • Design, implement, and improve production and operational systems
  • Streamline workflows to reduce costs and increase efficiency
  • Ensure consistency and standardization across production processes


Resource Management

  • Manage daily allocation of labor, equipment, and materials
  • Forecast staffing, equipment, and material needs
  • Oversee inventory levels and coordinate with supply chain and procurement


Staff Management & Leadership

  • Recruit, train, and supervise production team members
  • Set performance goals and conduct evaluations
  • Create schedules, assign work, and resolve conflicts
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement


Budgeting & Financial Oversight

  • Prepare and manage production department budgets
  • Monitor expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Analyze operational and financial data to guide decisions


Quality Control & Compliance

  • Ensure products meet company quality standards and specifications
  • Maintain compliance with safety regulations and internal policies
  • Conduct audits and implement corrective actions


Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Align production operations with company goals
  • Participate in leadership planning sessions
  • Lead long-term operational improvement initiatives


Communication & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Act as a liaison between Production, HR, Finance, Sales, and other departments
  • Track and report KPIs and production metrics to leadership
  • Lead production meetings and present operational data


Risk Management

  • Identify operational risks and develop mitigation plans
  • Manage disruptions such as equipment failures or supply chain issues


Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or production management
  • Strong experience with process improvement and operational systems
  • Proven leadership experience managing production teams
  • Solid understanding of budgeting, cost control, and KPIs
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety standards and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • ERP or manufacturing software experience preferred
  • Experience in steel, construction, or industrial manufacturing a plus


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $90,000 $110,000, depending on experience
  • 12 vacation days annually (4 hours of PTO accrued per pay period)
  • Health/dental/vision insurance starting the first day of the month after 30 days of employment with a monthly company contribution towards the health plan of your choice.
