Job Description:
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
- This position is accountable for performing a wide range of shipping and receiving processes including incoming shipments of products, organize merchandise for delivery, and keep records regarding these transactions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Determines method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons.
- Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
- Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.
- Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape using a strapping machine
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Routes items to departments.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications
- Mark inventory items with proper item numbers using labeling equipment
- Life and move items/packages to the assigned location.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum education, job experience, certifications, skills, knowledge, and abilities that incumbent must typically have to perform the essential functions of the job acceptably with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Minimum of a high school education and one year of factory related experience in shipping and receiving.
- Required to read and write English, follow verbal instructions, and use simple math.
- Read and comprehends simple instructions.
- Specialized equipment used in this job
- Forklift experience
