Position Summary
The Production/Repair Operator is responsible for advanced fabrication, assembly, inspection, troubleshooting, and testing of cable & harness assemblies, electromechanical subassemblies, placards, and related components for In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity products. This role supports schedule, design, quality, and FAA requirements with elevated proficiency and reduced supervision.
Essential Functions / Key Areas of Responsibility
- Reads, interprets, and applies engineering drawings, technical specifications, schematics, and work instructions with minimal supervision.
- Fabricates, inspects, and tests cable & harness assemblies, including more complex multi-branch configurations.
- Performs intermediate troubleshooting of production issues, wiring errors, incorrect terminations, continuity faults, and assembly defects.
- Programs and inspects labels/placards using labeling equipment; performs basic maintenance on machines.
- Performs and documents preventative maintenance and calibration checks on assigned tools and equipment.
- Supports continuous improvement activities, including 5S, quality containment, and root cause identification.
- Mentors Level 1 assemblers on basic tasks and correct workmanship practices.
- Performs additional duties such as material handling, part kitting, and supporting Florida locations using company vehicles.
- Performs advanced testing using HIPOT, continuity, multi-meters, VSWR testing, torque tools, automated test equipment, and documentation systems.
Minimum Requirements: Skills, Experience, Education, Technical/Specialized Knowledge, Certifications, Language
- High School Diploma/GED required; technical coursework preferred.
- Ability to pass or maintain IPC-A-620A certification (Required).
- 4 years of related experience in cable/harness or electromechanical assembly.
- 2+ years of SAP experience.
- 3+ years of inventory control or shipping & receiving experience.
- Strong proficiency in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to work well with others and complete tasks with minimal supervision
- Experience operating a forklift and pallet jacks as required
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in reading/interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of IPC workmanship standards.
- Intermediate proficiency with crimping, soldering, coax tooling, stripping, and measurement tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP (preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Able to perform tasks with minimal supervision and high accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of the imperial of U.S. customary system of measurement.
