Production Supervisor (Steel Manufacturing – 3rd Shift)
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading shop floor operations to ensure production runs safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This role provides hands-on leadership and daily support to production teams, driving performance across safety, quality, delivery, and employee engagement.
The supervisor will oversee production scheduling, assign daily work based on operational needs and employee strengths, and lead continuous improvement efforts within the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all production activities on assigned shift to meet production schedules, quality standards, and cost objectives
- Ensure proper material flow, equipment usage, and adherence to established production methods
- Assign work strategically to maximize team strengths and maintain workflow efficiency
- Lead and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives to improve productivity and reduce waste
- Conduct employee training sessions and facilitate regular team meetings to maintain clear communication
- Monitor employee performance and provide coaching to ensure safe and effective work practices
- Drive scrap reduction efforts to lower costs and prevent non-conforming product shipments
- Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, including implementation of 5S and operational excellence initiatives
- Enforce company policies and maintain accountability through performance management and corrective actions when necessary
- Directly supervise a team of 30+ employees
Qualifications
- Ability to work 2nd shift (10:00PM – 6:00AM)
- 5+ years of supervisory experience in a steel manufacturing environment
- 2–5 years of hands-on steel fabrication experience
- Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production setting
- Strong leadership, motivational, and team management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to respond with urgency and make effective decisions under pressure
- Experience in racking systems is a plus
