Solid Sealing Technology (SST) designs and manufactures small-scale electrical components used around the world. Our parts are found in many types of industrial, medical, and research facilities, and you will work with technologies used on equipment like energy storage systems, MRI machines, and particle accelerators. We have even sent parts to Mars! NASA's Mars Insight Mission uses components made right here in Watervliet, NY.

Position Summary:

SST is seeking to fill positions starting in January 2025. Production Team Members safely perform all assigned production support tasks according to instruction and documentation. They are responsible for some or all of the following, including other various duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Production Team Members working in Painting:
    • Identify the material type of the parts and select the correct metalizing paint.
    • Adjust the consistency of the paint as necessary.
    • Apply coatings to the parts by hand or with automation.
    • Use equipment to check thickness of applied coatings and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Production Team Members working in Assembly:
    • Determine the proper fixture(s) and assembly method(s) needed.
    • Assemble components and fixtures in accordance with requirements.
    • Ensure each assembly corresponds to the drawing in terms of orientation and alignment.
  • Production Team Members working in Leak Test:
    • Identify the correct testing fixture for the component that will be tested.
    • Ensure the component is free from contaminants.
    • Operate leak detector, testing parts for proper hermetic (air-tight) seal at various stages throughout the production cycle.
    • Determine if the readings are within acceptable limits.
  • All Production Team Members will:
    • Read work instructions, blueprints, and other documentation.
    • Accurately record completed work in computer system.
    • Perform quality checks of visual and dimensional requirements.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safety and efficiency.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure procedures and goals are met.
    • Continuously identify opportunities for improvement (OFI); suggest ways to improve processes.
  • Future training opportunities for Production Team members may include:
    • Operating equipment such as a grit/sand blaster.
    • Performing rinsing or cleaning of components and assemblies, manually or in automated equipment including a degreaser.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment doing detailed work preferred.
  • Must be dependable and a motivated team player.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow work instructions, etc.
  • Read and understand documentation, including instructional and health and safety documents.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills or willingness to learn.
  • Utilize basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, decimals, fractions, etc.
  • Manual dexterity to hold small items and use hand tools.
