Professional Accountant II
Responsible for supporting the financial integrity and compliance of the FIU Foundation. Serves as the primary lead post‑audit reviews, Foundation Credit Card analysis, and oversees foundation‑wide financial compliance to applicable laws, regulations, policies, and donor restrictions. Provides outreach to all university constituents, trains staff, updates management reports, and offers backup support for all accounting functions to ensure continuity of operations and strong internal controls.
Responsibilities
Conduct post‑audit reviews to ensure disbursements comply with all FIU Foundation, FIU, state, federal, and donor requirements.
Review Foundation credit card transactions monthly for backup, accuracy, allowability, approvals, and policy compliance.
Provide backup support for accounting functions: AP, AR, expense reports, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, investment accounting, month‑end, and year‑end tasks.
Setup new Foundation projects and prepare necessary journal entries, required forms, and project documentation (LOA, NCE, etc.).
Review interim reports submitted to donors/grantors for financial compliance.
Assist the Accounting Manager with monthly review of new Foundation pledges.
Prepare, review, and update financial, investment, Foundation budget, and other management reports (BOT, BOD, etc.).
Provide guidance and training to staff on compliance and all Foundation policies and procedures.
Serve as the FIU Foundation's primary lead for PCI DSS compliance; collaborate with IT and Gift Services to review security and obtain relevant vendor compliance reports.
Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responses.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related business field, with a minimum of 6 academic credits in Accounting, and at least 2 years of directly related accounting experience; or
Master's degree in Accounting or a related business field, or an MBA, with a minimum of 6 academic credits in Accounting.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with PeopleSoft or a similar ERP/GL system is a plus.
