This position may be filled as:
  • Temporary Job Appointment: This position may be filled by temporary job appointment not to exceed 48 months.
  • Probational Appointment: Current permanent status classified State employees will be required to accept a probational appointment, if selected.
About this position:
  • This vacancy is located at Capital Area Recovery Program (CARP), a 24-hour substance abuse facility.
  • Licensure as either a Provisional or Licensed Professional Counselor or a Provisional or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist is required. There is no substitution for this requirement.
  • This position requires the incumbents to drive as part of his/her regular job duties. Incumbent must possess a valid driver's license upon hire.

  • Professional Counselor 2(pay grade level SS-413) has a minimum salary of $19.67/hourly; $1,573.60/bi-weekly.
  • Professional Counselor 3(pay grade level SS-414) has a minimum salary of $21.05/hourly; $1,684.00/bi-weekly.
  • Professional Counselor 4(pay grade level SS-415) has a minimum salary of $22.52/hourly; $1,801.60/bi-weekly.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:
Registration as either a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor or a Provisional Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist by the Louisiana Board of Licensed Professional Counselors.

Obtains and prepares social histories of clients for information to be reviewed by treatment teams and for use in referrals to other agencies.

Manages a caseload by scheduling appointments, evaluating client progress in counseling sessions, and making recommendations to the treatment team.
Performs intensive individual interviews with patients experiencing crises and multiple situational problems.
Evaluates information in case records in order to recommend changes in psychosocial intervention.
Performs goal-directed and supportive individual and group interviews with clients experiencing crises or multiple situational problems.
Assists in the procurement of needs such as institutional placements, transportation, financial assistance, medical equipment, shelter, food, clothing, etc.
Serves as liaison between the client, family and the agency/institution.
