Our core values are essential to our culture Position: Professional Development Specialist Location: Fowlerville, MI Job Id: 222 # of Openings: 1 Summary: The Professional Development Specialist is responsible for assessing training needs, designing and delivering development programs, and supporting employee growth to enhance organizational performance. This role champions a culture of continuous improvement and works collaboratively with leaders and employees to strengthen skills, capabilities and career development across the organization. Primary Responsibilities: Collaborate with leadership and management to identify and prioritize employee training and development needs. Design and implement training and development programs, including curriculum development, learning pathways, and assessments. Develop and manage new hire onboarding programs and compliance training initiatives. Deliver and facilitate engaging in-person, virtual and hybrid learning sessions. Manage the Learning Management System (LMS), including coordinating schedules and maintaining accurate records of employee training. Develop, publish and maintain learning content to ensure materials within the LMS library remain accurate, current and relevant. Evaluate program effectiveness by measuring participation, engagement, impact, and continuously improve content based on results and organizational needs. Identify and coordinate with internal and external subject matter experts to deliver training programs within budget or through grant-supported opportunities. Support initiatives related to onboarding, leadership development, career advancement, and employee engagement. Align professional development programs with organizational strategy with operational priorities. Perform other duties as assigned. Expertise in instructional design and adult learning principles. Strategic planning skills with the ability to align training initiatives with organizational priorities and employee growth objectives. Excellent presentation and facilitation skills for in-person and virtual learning environments. Proficiency in leveraging AI and digital tools to enhance training effectiveness and learning outcomes. Ability to build strong working relationships with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization. Strong employee relations and interpersonal skills. Ability to assess both technical and interpersonal skill gaps and design learning solutions that drive measurable improvements. Thorough understanding of organizational policies, procedures and operational practices. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field. 7+ years of experience in professional development, learning and development or training roles. Demonstrated ability to design and deliver curriculum, assessment and active learning engagement with adult learners. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and motivate diverse learners. Strong presentation, written and verbal skills with exceptional attention to detail. Experience administering or managing a Learning Management System (LMS) or similar training platform. Experience using Articulate or similar e-learning design tool. Special Position Requirements: Some domestic travel may be required. Physical Requirements: Communicate with others and exchange accurate information. Operate a computer and other office machinery or equipment. Ability to move about inside the office to access file cabinets or office machinery. This job takes place in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment. Office employees are required to wear safety glasses, safety shoes, and a highly visible vest at all times in production areas and labs.
