Job DescriptionJob DescriptionAs a Professional Land Surveyor, you will work with entry level, experienced survey professionals and other relevant support staff to provide survey related services for KLJ client projects. Join our team and reimagine what your career can be.Position PurposeAs a Professional Land Surveyor, you will work with entry level, experienced survey professionals and other relevant support staff to provide survey related services for KLJ client projects. Position ensures technical portion of projects are executed in-line with KLJs quality expectations and standards that ultimately deliver on our strategy of providing an exceptional client experience.Essential FunctionsProvide direction, review, and support to the survey group by leading projects; assuring proper practices and techniquesPlans, organizes and manages project elements and manage multiple clientsProvide oral and written communication to project teams, clients and the publicPlans, organizes, coordinates, prioritizes, assigns and monitors the work of field survey crewsManage multiple project teams in the fieldEnsure compliance with KLJ safety standardsUtilize effective written and oral communicationResponsibilitiesSurvey to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mapmaking, land division, titles, mining or other surveying related purposesConstruction staking, planning, reports, maps, plats, deeds, local geography, physical evidence, legal descriptions, and researchResponsible for accuracy of documents and deliverables completed by teamInstruct, train, and mentor crew membersMay confer with project team members and clients to lead, prepare, and participate in project proposals and interviewsEffectively manages and delivers projects on-time and on budget QualificationsAssociate or bachelors degree in Land Surveying or equivalent survey field experiencePLS certificationMust have a valid drivers license and be able to operate motorized vehiclesHours and TravelThis position requires the individual work 40+ hours per week with 95% of the time spent in the field and 5% in the office.RelationshipsThe Professional Land Surveyor is supervised by the Department manager and receives guidance and direction on project related tasks from the Project Manager or Department Manager. Supervisory responsibilities in the field include Survey Technician, Survey Crew Chief, Senior Survey Crew Chief, Land Surveyor in Training and support staff members.The position plans and implements work assignments in accordance with guidelines, previous training, or accepted practice as a PLS.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities. The employee is regularly required to:Sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawlUse hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and armsTalk or hear and communicate clearlyThe employee must:Be able to walk on uneven terrain up to ten miles per dayFrequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 75 poundsSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Other DutiesThis job description is not meant to be all-inclusive or restrictive and other duties may be assigned.
