ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Program Manager comes with a strong track record of operational excellence, ideally including start-up experience, and assumes the primary role in project management and coordination of all activities related to the Social Trust initiative, a new initiative of the Aspen Institute. The program manager is responsible for coordinating all operations including administrative and logistical activity related to first, the successful launch and then subsequently, the successful functioning and growth of the program.

The Program Manager will report to the to-be-hired Director of Social Trust Initiative. The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000. This is a hybrid, Washington, DC-based position. Selected candidates are expected to work in person at the Washington, DC office approximately two days per week.

What you will do

  • Support and work closely with the to be hired Director of the initiative on all aspects of program launch, program development and implementation

  • Develop and manage work plans and timelines for projects, and track and adjust tasks and milestones

  • Address risks and issues affecting project deadlines, and maintain clear and consistent communication on status

  • Coordinate meetings with internal and external stakeholders, and help steward meetings, e.g. by scheduling, inviting, and prep work

  • Support collaboration with internal and external stakeholders under supervision of the Director, including agenda setting and after-meeting follow-up, via coordination with the Aspen Institutes events team, and more

  • Work with central functions at the Aspen Institute to develop and implement operational structures and processes including hiring, new staff onboarding, contracts and vendor relationships, and other administrative processes

  • Create, update and maintain contact database, and develop and maintain program file systems and archive

  • Pay invoices, track expenses, with support from the Aspen Institutes finance team, and interact with funders under supervision of the Director.

What you will need to thrive:

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in a similar, non-profit environment

  • Strong desire to build and get things done, e.g. in a start-up setting, and track record of excellent project management skills

  • Track record of organizing, implementing and maintaining structure and processes in a fast paced environment

  • Experience managing priorities and achieving results in a dynamic setting

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Excellent communication and writing skills

  • Skilled at handling occasional external relations and representational roles, and building internal networks in the workplace

  • Results-oriented, highly motivated, enjoying collaborating with colleagues across teams.
