Project Accountant $80000 - $110000 per year | Cincinnati, OH | On-site | Permanent A bit about us: Our client is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to support the financial operations of a growing construction and infrastructure services organization. This individual will oversee project billing, contract administration, project financial tracking, and customer invoicing across multiple business divisions. Working closely with Operations, Estimating, Payroll, Billing, and Executive Leadership, this position ensures projects are accurately established, billed, and financially monitored from contract award through project completion. Competitive compensation, benefits, and opportunities for professional growth. Job Details Responsibilities Manage project billing across multiple construction service divisions. Prepare and submit accurate customer invoices in accordance with contract requirements. Review daily field reports, work orders, tickets, and supporting documentation for billing accuracy. Monitor project costs, committed costs, change orders, retainage, and overall project profitability. Coordinate with operations and project managers to resolve billing discrepancies and job cost issues. Assist with month-end close activities related to project accounting. Maintain organized electronic project files and financial documentation. Review contracts, purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and customer requirements. Track insurance compliance, lien waivers, subcontractor documentation, and project closeout requirements. Maintain accurate project setup and financial information within the ERP system. Support change order administration and contract modifications. Partner with leadership to improve project reporting and financial visibility. Identify opportunities to improve accounting, billing, and contract administration processes. Assist with audits and financial reporting requests. Required Qualifications 3+ years of construction or project accounting experience. Experience within construction, infrastructure, roadway, or specialty contracting environments. Strong understanding of project billing. Strong understanding of job costing. Strong understanding of contract administration. Strong understanding of project financial reporting. Experience using Deltek ComputerEase. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent organizational and communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications Union or prevailing wage experience. Heavy civil, roadway, pavement marking, or traffic control experience. Experience with subcontract management. Knowledge of WIP reporting and project lifecycle accounting.
