Project Accountant I

Description
The Project Accountant I will be responsible for routine accounting tasks pertaining to their assigned project. Tasks include collecting, computing, classifying, recording, and verifying material billing data used for customer billing and maintaining project-related records. The Project Accountant I will assist the Project Accountant II’s with their day-to-day deliverables. This person must be detailed oriented, have the ability to use sound judgement in making decisions, and have a basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. (GAAP). This position will require traveling to different job sites.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Project Accountant II with maintaining project related records
Report the transfer of expenses into and out of project-related accounts to the Project Accountant II
Review labor hours for work related to a project and communicate discrepancies to management
Review account totals related to project assets and expenses
Assist with the assessment of project variances
Monitor cash flow practices by auditing and sending reports promptly
Assess project profitability and report findings to management
Report to management on opportunities for additional billings or cost savings
Create project related billings to customers
Assist with project close outs
Respond to customer inquiries
Travel as needed
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
At least 1 year of relative accounting experience
Excellent communication skills
Some knowledge of Microsoft Excel
High School diploma required, Associate degree preferred
Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. (GAAP)
Must be detail oriented
Can use sound judgement in making decisions
Ability to remain focus when working on day-to-day activities
