Job Overview The Manager, Government Operations provides administrative and strategic support to the ISSG partners with the primary goal of assisting in achieving the vision, mission, and goals of the consolidated Government Services practice. The position focuses on driving financial performance and strategic initiatives, ensuring follow‑through, execution, and accountability while reducing the administrative burden on existing leadership. Responsibilities Financial Management and Operations: Drive and supervise financial operations of the practice including financial reporting & budgeting, billing, revenue, subcontractor management, accounts receivable, forecasting, and new employee onboarding. Build trusting relationships with Practice Leaders to share successful strategic actions across practices, offices, and regions. Streamline processes and procedures and work with project managers and leaders to effectively manage engagements. Develop and maintain daily reports on metrics/realization rates, engagement economics, and pipeline. Oversee and develop internal processes including CRM and project set‑up. Work closely with the Government Services PMO to ensure staff utilization and engagement metrics. Monitor monthly financial results in real time, alerting leadership to potential or actual forecast discrepancies. Support leadership in monitoring and taking strategic actions to evaluate the government practice client portfolio, stratifying clients by revenue and services provided and monitoring profitability by client and other KPIs. Monitor relative practice, office and region productivity. Where discrepancies are identified, work with the PMO to remediate. Work with BDO’s Core Business Service professionals in finance to standardize and streamline reporting. Communication: Attend office visits within the practice as needed. Effectively communicate with leaders, project teams, and staff to ensure information is clear, concise, and effectively executed. People: Assist Government Services Practice Leaders and National Practice Leader with monitoring practice area, office and region level personnel relative to forecast. Track subcontractors’ contracts and invoices. Other duties as required. Supervisory Responsibilities N/A Education Bachelor’s degree required; a degree focused in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration preferred. Experience Eight (8) or more years in business process, project management, and solution implementation required. Experience in finance and/or consulting preferred. Industry experience in government consulting preferred. Licenses & Certifications N/A Software Proficiency Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required. Prior experience in CRM preferred. Prior experience in financial systems such as Oracle, Unanet, or OneStream preferred. Additional Skills & Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically business and report writing. Elite level organizational skills, ability to work independently and in teams. People focus with ability to objectively communicate with different personality types. Proactive mindset and ability to think ahead and anticipate problems. Ability to use influence to “lead from behind.” Passion for the vision and mission of the consolidated Government Services practice.
