Job Description

The Project Coordinator Power Generation & Renewables supports the execution, oversight, and management of construction, maintenance, and outage projects across power-generation facilities. This role ensures alignment with project safety standards, schedule requirements, budget expectations, and technical specifications. The coordinator works closely with contractors, vendors, engineering teams, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders to ensure high-quality project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Project Execution & Oversight

  • Assist in managing all phases of assigned projects to ensure compliance with safety, schedule, quality, and budget goals.
  • Evaluate field productivity, schedule adherence, safety performance, and work quality.
  • Conduct walk-downs of planned and completed work, verifying constructability and design compliance.
  • Review contractor deliverables and payment requests for accuracy.

Technical & Field Coordination

  • Monitor field status, resolve technical issues, and ensure appropriate resource allocation.
  • Support the planning and execution of power plant overhauls, outages, and maintenance work.
  • Act as the Owner's Representative on behalf of Client.
  • Enforce LOTO and safety standards, including qualification for Client's In-Plant Clearance.

Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, regulatory agencies, local community officials, and landowners.
  • Participate in pre-bid and pre-construction meetings.
  • Guide contractors and staff on safety practices, corrective actions, and lessons learned.
  • Interface with the project's management committee and internal business groups (engineering, safety, construction, budgeting, analytics, contract administration).

Planning & Reporting

  • Support scope control, budgeting oversight, risk mitigation, and progress tracking.
  • Assist in performance reporting and schedule management using PM software (MS Project, Smartsheet).
  • Conduct regular update meetings with internal project stakeholders.

Role Specializations (One Required)

1. Mechanical Coordinator

  • Experience with Steam/Combustion Turbines, HRSGs, Boilers, and Valves.
  • Knowledge of Balance of Plant (BOP) systems.
  • P91 welding oversight experience is a plus.

2. Electrical Coordinator

  • Generator, Exciter, and auxiliary electrical equipment maintenance supervision.
  • Prior Electrical Supervisor or Superintendent experience.
  • Hands-on experience with grounding, medium/low voltage systems, transformers, and P&IDs.

3. Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Coordinator

  • Experience in instrumentation calibration, testing, tuning, and control system maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience with DCS systems such as GE Mark V/VI and Ovation.
  • Experience in DCS commissioning and startup.
  • Strong ability to read P&ID, electrical, and mechanical drawings.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Land Surveying, or related field.
  • PMP certification preferred.

Experience

  • 11 15 years of experience leading or supporting construction projects in the power generation/renewables industry.
  • Minimum 7 years of generator maintenance experience in the power generation sector.
  • Experience supervising outage or overhaul planning and execution.
  • Physical ability to climb turbine decks, enter boilers, and work with full PPE including respirators.
  • Familiarity with wind turbine construction and inspection is preferred.

Additional Details

  • Must qualify for In-Plant Clearance upon training.
  • Must be willing to travel and support outage/overhaul schedules.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills required.
