Job Description

The Project Coordinator Power Generation & Renewables is responsible for supporting and overseeing construction and maintenance activities across assigned energy projects. This position ensures project execution aligns with budget, schedule, safety, and technical quality expectations. The role involves field oversight, contractor management, technical coordination, and stakeholder interfacing across multiple disciplines in the power generation and renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Field Management

  • Support overall project execution, ensuring compliance with safety, schedule, quality, and budget goals.
  • Assess contractor productivity, work quality, schedule adherence, and safety performance.
  • Conduct walk-downs of planned and completed work; verify constructability and adherence to design requirements.
  • Review and validate contractor payment requests.
  • Oversee field status, troubleshoot issues, and ensure proper resource allocation.

Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate project activities with suppliers, vendors, regulatory agencies, and local community representatives.
  • Interface with landowners, local regulators, and state agencies.
  • Reinforce safety expectations, procedural compliance, lessons learned, and corrective actions for employees and contractor personnel.
  • Support safety programs, engineering, construction, budgeting, analytics, and contract administration functions.
  • Participate in management committee reviews.

Technical & Planning Responsibilities

  • Assist in scope control, performance reporting, and project scheduling.
  • Prepare and participate in pre-bid and pre-construction meetings.
  • Conduct ongoing status reviews with internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with outage and overhaul execution plans.
  • Act as Owner's Representative during execution of contracted work.

Role Specializations (Choose One):

Mechanical Coordinator

  • Experience overseeing Steam/Combustion Turbines, HRSG, Boilers, Valves, and Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment.
  • P91 welding oversight experience is a plus.

Electrical Coordinator

  • Generator, Exciter, and auxiliary electrical equipment maintenance supervision.
  • Background as Electrical Supervisor/Superintendent.
  • Experience with grounding, medium/low-voltage systems, transformers, and P&IDs.

Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Coordinator

  • Experience in instrumentation calibration, testing, and tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with DCS platforms (GE Mark V/VI, Ovation).
  • Experience in DCS commissioning and startup.
  • Ability to read P&ID, electrical, and mechanical drawings.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Project Management, Land Surveying, or a related technical field.
  • PMP Certification preferred.

Experience

  • 11 15 years managing or supporting construction projects in the power generation or renewables industry.
  • Minimum 7 years of generator/industrial power system maintenance experience.
  • Must be physically fit to climb turbine decks, work in boilers, and wear PPE including respiratory masks.
  • Experience supervising outage/overhaul planning and execution.
  • Familiarity with PM scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Smartsheet.
  • Understanding wind turbine construction and inspection processes.

Additional Requirements

  • Must qualify for In-Plant Clearance after training.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and work during outage/overhaul schedules.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder-coordination skills.
  • Ability to enforce safety expectations and ensure compliance with project specifications.
