Join our team as a Project Engineer II and be a vital part of ensuring the safety and success of construction projects across the Los Angeles Community College District!

As a Project Engineer II, you will provide crucial technical and engineering support to our College Project Teams, collaborating closely with project managers and construction managers. Your primary responsibilities include coordinating with the Program Management Office, contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, and college staff. You will participate in and occasionally lead design and construction meetings, ensuring that all projects adhere to job specifications, established college standards, and Division of State Architect (DSA) requirements. Additionally, you will conduct field checks on various construction projects and read and interpret construction plans and shop drawings. This role demands a proactive approach to maintaining compliance and fostering effective communication across all project phases.

Requirements

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years minimum recent professional experience in a similar or equivalent position involved in project management or construction management
  • BS/BA Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or related degree. Additional qualifying experience in excess to the minimum stated above may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to take initiative and make sound decisions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience on construction projects in the education sector.
  • Experience on DSA projects.
  • Experience on Central Plant projects.
  • Experience on large public works programs.
  • Experience with Proliance or similar PMIS systems
  • Professional Engineer License (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar credentials
  • MBA or MS Degree in Business, Engineering or similar
