Overview

A leading consumer products manufacturer is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to lead both small and large-scale capital projects and provide technical support for maintenance and equipment reliability initiatives. This role combines hands-on project execution with leadership and mentoring responsibilities, driving operational excellence in a fast-paced, high-speed production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute capital projects from concept through startup, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
  • Partner with Maintenance and Operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues that impact safety, quality, or uptime.
  • Manage contractors and vendors throughout installation, commissioning, and validation phases, ensuring safety and compliance standards are upheld.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop junior engineers and operations personnel in best practices for project execution and equipment reliability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime, optimizing material flow, and improving process capability.
  • Prepare technical documentation, project justifications, and post-project evaluations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production to support long-term equipment and infrastructure upgrades.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred).
  • Proven success managing capital projects in consumer products or high-speed manufacturing environments (pet food, food & beverage, packaging, or related).
  • Strong understanding of equipment installation, utilities, and process systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead contractors and mentor engineers or operators.
  • Skilled in continuous improvement, Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced setting.
