Project Engineering Manager – Water & Wastewater Date: Jun 11, 2026 Location: Phoenix, AZ, US Company: Black & Veatch Family of Companies The Opportunity As the Project Engineering Manager for Water & Wastewater, you will manage the execution of the engineering component of multiple traditional, design-build, design-bid-build, and collaborative delivery projects, including advanced treatment facilities, underground conveyance, and carbon neutral solutions. Key Responsibilities Lead a multi‑discipline team of engineers and technicians on high‑profile municipal projects. Supervise, mentor, and provide developmental growth opportunities for engineering staff. Manage budgets, schedules, and client correspondence in support of project objectives. Project Execution Prepare complex engineering deliverables for large or multiple projects. Assist in research to develop equipment and material recommendations. Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements across multiple disciplines. Lead production teams, coordinate multi‑discipline activities, and serve as project owner. Client Interface Identify key client interests and drivers for moderately complex projects. Communicate client concerns to the project team and develop solutions. Support business development and pursuit activities. Manage project changes directly with the client under Project Manager supervision. Technical Expertise Lead large multi‑discipline teams to meet project deliverables. Provide input to technical leadership for complex water and wastewater treatment projects. Drive solutions to achieve project goals. Management Responsibilities Review lower‑level engineering work or assignments. Mentor and perform performance management of assigned personnel. Preferred Qualifications Previous engineering consulting experience. Experience executing multi‑discipline WTP and WWTP upgrades and expansion projects. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years related work experience. Must pass pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background checks, drug screening, motor vehicle records). Active engineering registration or licensure to support Engineer of Record requirements where applicable. Certifications Active engineering registration or licensure supporting Engineer of Record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries. Work Environment and Physical Demands Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after 90 days of employment based on manager discretion. Sitting, standing, and computer usage for extended periods. Utilization of video/audio conferencing software for internal and external communication. Travel to client sites.
