Job Title: Construction Project Executive
Reports To: President / COO / Vice President of Construction
Location: Hybrid — Office-based in Fort Washington, PA, with regular travel to construction sites nationwide.
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Overview
The Construction Project Executive provides executive-level leadership and oversight of multiple concurrent construction projects. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with company standards and strategic objectives.
The Project Executive leads Project Managers and project teams, drives client satisfaction, oversees financial performance, and serves as a key liaison between ownership, operations, and executive leadership.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject & Operational Leadership
Provide executive oversight of multiple large-scale construction projects.
Ensure compliance with contract requirements, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Monitor schedules, budgets, staffing, and resource allocation across projects.
Identify and mitigate risks, claims, and potential disputes proactively.
Conduct regular project reviews and implement corrective action as necessary.
Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, and project teams.
Establish performance expectations and accountability standards.
Support workforce planning, staffing strategies, and succession planning.
Promote a culture of collaboration, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
Oversee financial performance including budgets, forecasting, cost controls, and margin management.
Review and approve major change orders, subcontract agreements, and claims.
Ensure accurate reporting, billing, and cash flow management.
Participate in estimating reviews and project handoff meetings.
Serve as executive-level point of contact for key clients and stakeholders.
Build and maintain long-term client relationships.
Lead executive meetings, negotiations, and conflict resolution.
Support proposal efforts, pursuit strategies, and major project interviews.
Provide operational insight into new markets and delivery methods.
Collaborate with executive leadership on company policies and best practices.
Drive standardization and “lessons learned” initiatives across projects.
QualificationsEducation
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (required)
Advanced degree preferred
15+ years of progressive construction experience
5+ years in senior leadership (Project Executive, Senior PM, or Operations role)
Experience managing large-scale, complex construction projects
Proven ability to oversee multiple project teams simultaneously
Strong leadership and strategic decision-making skills
Advanced financial management and cost control expertise
Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-relations abilities
In-depth knowledge of construction contracts, scheduling, and risk management
Proficiency with project management and financial software
Ability to travel to project sites as required
