Position Overview

The Pre-Construction Project Manager Energy Storage supports the development, planning, and pre-construction execution of multiple energy storage projects across Arizona and New Mexico. This role is responsible for coordinating highly matrixed teams, validating project scope, supporting schedule development, and ensuring project readiness for turnover to Construction. The ideal candidate has strong construction or renewables experience, working knowledge of project management tools, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, environmental, procurement, land, regulatory, and commercial teams.

This is an office-based role in Juno Beach, FL, with travel to project sites as needed (up to 25%).

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Execution

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously at various stages of development and pre-construction.
  • Coordinate activities across environmental, regulatory, cultural, land acquisition, interconnection, and other internal partners to ensure all project variables are defined and integrated.
  • Develop and refine the technical scope for assigned projects.
  • Optimize technical and financial project variables to enhance project feasibility.

Commercial & Contract Management

  • Support origination and development teams with PPA and GIA negotiations.
  • Competitively source, negotiate, and execute commercial contracts, including geotechnical, surveying, engineering, EPC/PC, and critical services.
  • Uphold and represent Engineering & Construction (E&C) interests on assigned projects.

Planning, Scheduling & Financial Support

  • Build and maintain project schedules in Smartsheet or similar systems.
  • Engage with vendors to determine material availability, lead times, and execution schedules.
  • Support E&C cost estimating for development of project financial models.
  • Actively leverage market data to ensure financial models remain accurate and competitive.
  • Prepare and present financial models to business units and support the model through executive budget approvals.

Construction Readiness

  • Participate in walk-downs of planned work and validate constructability.
  • Ensure all project documentation, scope, and execution plans are complete and ready for turnover to the Construction Project Manager.
  • Validate contractor payment requests and monitor progress against scope, schedule, and quality requirements.

Safety, Compliance & Stakeholder Management

  • Reinforce safety expectations, procedure compliance, lessons learned, and corrective action requirements with contractors and staff.
  • Interface with landowners, local regulators, suppliers, and state agencies.
  • Support internal reporting, performance tracking, and issue resolution across engineering, construction, budget, analytics, and contract administration teams.
  • Provide regular project updates, risk assessments, and mitigation plans to management.

Required Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in Engineering, Project Management, Land Surveying, or related field required.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • 0 5 years of experience managing project execution, vendor coordination, or construction/renewable energy project support.
  • Experience in construction, energy, or renewables industry preferred.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with project management software such as Microsoft Project or Smartsheet.
  • Ability to interpret budget data, schedules, and key performance metrics.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with diverse stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
  • Comfortable presenting project data, risks, and progress to management.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel to project sites up to 25% of the time.
  • Must be willing to work onsite at Juno Beach headquarters, Monday Friday.
