Job Description: Airport Project Manager - Taxiway Construction
Location: Onsite at John Wayne Airport, CA
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Airport Project Manager with extensive expertise in taxiway construction and rehabilitation projects. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of taxiway projects at John Wayne Airport, ensuring on-time, within-budget, and quality delivery. The role demands leadership, technical proficiency, and coordination with various stakeholders, including airport authorities, contractors, and regulatory agencies. This is a full-time, onsite position requiring strong project management skills in an airport environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management: Lead and manage taxiway construction and rehabilitation projects from inception through completion. Ensure all project phases comply with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, local airport policies, and safety standards.
Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact between the airport management, contractors, design teams, and regulatory agencies. Ensure effective communication and coordination to mitigate risks and resolve issues promptly.
Budget and Schedule Management: Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans. Ensure projects stay on track regarding timeframes and financial constraints.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including environmental, safety, and aviation-specific laws. Conduct regular inspections and manage documentation for compliance audits.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks to the project timeline, budget, or scope. Implement proactive measures and contingency plans to minimize disruption.
Technical Oversight: Provide expert oversight in taxiway design, construction methodologies, materials selection, and technical specifications.
Contract Management: Manage contractor agreements, monitor performance, and ensure all contractual obligations are met.
Quality Assurance: Ensure the highest quality standards are met during the design and construction phases, adhering to industry best practices.
Reporting: Prepare and present project progress reports to airport authorities and other key stakeholders. Ensure transparent and accurate reporting of timelines, costs, and project milestones.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Minimum of 10 years of project management experience in airport construction, with a specific focus on taxiways or runways.
Strong understanding of FAA regulations and airport-specific safety protocols.
Proven experience managing multi-million-dollar infrastructure projects, particularly in the aviation sector.
Proficient in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and reporting tools.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
PMP or similar project management certification is preferred.
