Tekberry is looking for a highly qualified and motivated Project Manager, Facility Planning to work onsite with our client, a world-class research and academic institution. In this role, you will oversee technical and operational aspects of facility projects within the Residential and Dining Enterprises (R&DE) division, supporting life safety systems testing, maintenance, and compliance. This position requires a detail-oriented project manager with strong technical acumen, communication skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

Project Management & Technical Oversight (50%)

  • Manage assigned facility projects from initiation through completion, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and quality requirements.

  • Oversee technical activities related to life safety systems, including testing and inspection of smoke detectors, exit signs, inverters, and emergency lighting.

  • Coordinate third-party contractors performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and urgent repairs.

  • Maintain documentation for inspection results, maintenance logs, and service reports in compliance with regulatory standards.

Facility Coordination & Compliance (30%)

  • Maintain an inventory (attic stock) of critical life safety components to ensure operational readiness.

  • Partner with building managers and vendors to coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and testing activities.

  • Support regulatory compliance by ensuring all work adheres to local codes, university standards, and safety procedures.

  • Contribute to communication and change management processes related to facility projects.

Reporting & Documentation (20%)

  • Prepare project documentation, reports, and status updates for management.

  • Track progress, resource allocation, and costs associated with multiple simultaneous projects.

  • Provide recommendations for system improvements and cost-effective maintenance practices.

  • Support overall program alignment with R&DE strategic objectives and operational goals.

Must-Have Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related technical field.

  • 7 10 years of relevant experience in facility planning, construction management, or technical project coordination.

  • Demonstrated project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and stakeholder coordination.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface across multiple organizational levels.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and database management.

  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and regulatory codes.

  • Valid California Class C Driver's License required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing life safety, electrical, or mechanical systems within institutional or commercial facilities.

  • Familiarity with Stanford University systems, processes, and compliance standards.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in facilities, operations, and safety.

  • Experience supervising contractors and coordinating multiple projects concurrently.

Work Environment: Onsite role; may involve working in laboratories, mechanical rooms, or outdoor environments. Must be comfortable with occasional ladder use, confined spaces, or elevated work (roofs up to 10 ft).
