Position Summary

The Axel Group is seeking a Project Manager for a well established environmental contractor in New Jersey. The role will be responsible for overseeing environmental remediation and construction projects from initiation through completion. This role manages field operations, budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships while ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage environmental remediation and construction projects (e.g., soil excavation, groundwater treatment, tank removals)
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, and cost estimates
  • Oversee field crews, subcontractors, and equipment deployment
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines to ensure successful delivery
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, engineers, and regulators
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA standards)
  • Prepare and review technical reports, daily logs, and project documentation
  • Identify and resolve field issues, delays, or safety concerns in real time
  • Support proposal development, bidding, and business development efforts
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure quality control and safety standards


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-10+ years of experience in environmental remediation, construction, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and site remediation techniques
  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, and field personnel
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and technical specifications
  • Excellent communication and client management skills
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites
