Project / Program Manager – IT
Hybrid | Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL (Dallas/Irving, TX also considered)
Rate: $53 - $55/hour
We are seeking an experienced IT Project / Program Manager to support a large, enterprise-level digital organization focused on delivering integrated software solutions and platform capabilities. This role will partner closely with engineering, business stakeholders, and product owners to drive projects from concept through implementation within an Agile environment.
What You’ll Do
Lead the planning and execution of IT projects to ensure delivery on time, within budget, and with high quality
Manage project charters, schedules, budgets, communications, metrics, and overall delivery plans
Partner with software engineering teams, business stakeholders, and product owners to align scope, priorities, and ways of working
Manage multiple projects concurrently, typically 2–3 active projects at a time
Support projects from concept, prototype, and pilot through implementation and follow-up
Use project management tools and methodologies to track progress, risks, and dependencies
Actively manage change, guide teams through decision-making, and recommend solutions or alternatives when challenges arise
Communicate status, risks, and progress clearly to cross-functional teams and leadership
Ensure alignment across technical and business teams in a complex, enterprise environment
Work Environment
Hybrid role requiring 3 days per week onsite
Preferred locations: Chicago or Peoria, IL (Dallas/Irving, TX also considered)
Monday–Friday, standard business hours
Collaborative team environment working across engineering and business functions
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 2–4 years of project or program management experience, or Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience
2+ years of direct project management experience supporting software engineering teams
Experience managing projects using Agile methodologies
Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (VSTS) and Confluence
Strong understanding of project management fundamentals including charters, planning, scheduling, and execution
Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project
Experience working cross-functionally within large organizations
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
PMP, CSM, SAFe, or Change Management certification
Experience supporting large enterprise or digital transformation initiatives
Exposure to Power BI and data-driven reporting
Some Scrum Master experience in addition to project management
Experience supporting eCommerce or customer-facing applications
