POSITION SUMMARY

The Property & Maintenance Coordinator supports the safe, functional, and welcoming operation of YMCA Camp Kirkwood’s 195-acre property. Under the direction of the Executive Director, this role maintains camp buildings, grounds, program areas, and equipment to ensure exceptional experience for campers, guests, and staff year-round.


KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Maintain and improve camp facilities, grounds, and program areas through preventative maintenance and timely repairs.
  • Ensure proper operation and upkeep of tractors, mowers, camp vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Perform light carpentry, electrical, painting, basic construction, and general maintenance tasks.
  • Support upkeep of HVAC, pool systems, and other facility infrastructure as appropriate.
  • Work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions.
  • Prepare and maintain program areas and support event and program setups.
  • Use MaintainX to manage and complete work orders; communicate professionally via email.
  • Coordinate and work professionally with outside vendors.
  • Assist with inventory, purchasing, and basic budget awareness.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and secure facilities and grounds.
  • Support volunteer workdays and other property projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Commitment to the mission and values of the YMCA.
  • Experience in facilities maintenance, groundskeeping, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate tractors, mowers, vehicles, and hand/power tools.
  • Comfortable using basic technology, including work order systems and email.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and team-oriented mindset.
  • Understanding of customer service and how facilities impact guest experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
  • Ability to lift, climb ladders (up to 30 feet), bend, kneel, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to safely work with tools, equipment, and cleaning or maintenance materials.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

YMCA SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
CPR & First Aid – Must be able to complete and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid; able to assist individuals in need until professional help arrives.

Emergency Response – Ability to quickly identify emergency situations (medical, fire, environmental, etc.) and respond appropriately following established procedures.

Incident Management – Required to report all safety incidents and hazards immediately and accurately to supervisors.

Safe Environment – Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and hazard-free environment for all staff, members, and participants.

Physical Readiness – Must be able to perform physical tasks related to safety, including assisting individuals of various ages and physical abilities.
