Job Description

Job Description
Staff Accountant

At The Klotz Group of Companies, intensity is the standard. Execution is the expectation. Excellence is non-negotiable.

We are a vertically integrated multifamily investment platform built by people who move fast, think clearly, and finish strong. We don’t hire for comfort. We hire for capacity. We don’t look for people who want a job — we look for people who want ownership, impact, and responsibility.

This is not a passive accounting role. This is not a “stay in your lane” position.

We are seeking a Staff Accountant who brings fire, precision, and urgency to the numbers — someone who treats financial accuracy like a competitive advantage and accountability like a personal code.

The Mission

This role exists to protect and power the platform.

You are here to:

  • Build trust in the numbers through speed, accuracy, and total transparency.
  • Bring urgency and intensity into the financial heartbeat of the company.
  • Raise the standard daily — through discipline, follow-through, and refusal to accept “good enough.”
  • Live and amplify our C Culture: Collaborate. Cooperate. Communicate. Create Cohesiveness.

What You Will Own

Accounting & Financial Command

  • Dominate property and corporate accounting workflows — AP/AR, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements — executed cleanly, quickly, and without excuses.
  • Engineer scalable systems and controls, documenting policies and procedures that withstand growth, audits, and complexity.
  • Own payroll accuracy and continuity, working in lockstep with our PEO.
  • Deliver financials that leadership trusts instinctively — monthly, quarterly, and annual — on time, every time.
  • Command NOI tracking, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis with clarity and conviction.
  • Execute tax support, audits, and compliance with precision and preparedness.
  • Lead construction and development cost accounting, including job costing, draw management, and progress billing.
  • Partner cross-functionally with construction and operations leaders to translate data into decisions — fast.

What Winning Looks Like
  • The numbers are clean. The reporting is sharp. The cadence is tight.
  • Leadership moves faster because they trust what they’re seeing.
  • Communication is clear. Expectations are explicit. Performance compounds.
  • Your presence raises the room — people move sharper, execute cleaner, and think bigger because you’re there.
  • You are a force multiplier, not a function.

Who You Are
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (Forensic Accounting or IT background is a plus).
  • 5+ years of real, hands-on accounting experience — construction and real estate strongly preferred.
  • Fluent in QuickBooks, Excel, and modern accounting/property software.
  • Proven experience with payroll, compliance, and benefits administration.
  • Deep experience in construction accounting, job costing, AIA invoicing, and progress billing.
  • You think strategically, execute tactically, and close relentlessly.
  • Accuracy is personal. Deadlines matter. Accountability is assumed.

What We Offer
  • A high-performance environment where excellence is the baseline — not the exception.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Real responsibility. Real ownership. Real growth.
  • The chance to be part of a platform — and a culture — that demands more and delivers more.

If you want comfort, this isn’t it.

If you want impact, intensity, and the opportunity to build something meaningful — welcome.
