Psychiatric TechnicianEmployees assigned to this position provide direct supervision and support services to clients in a crisis or residential care setting under clearly defined and prescribed work assignments. This role operates within established policies, procedures, and supervisory direction. The position reports to the Residential Care Facility Administrator.The Psychiatric Technician is responsible for ensuring client safety, supervision, basic care, environmental cleanliness, and support of therapeutic and recovery-oriented services in a structured residential environment. Duties are performed in accordance with agency policies, safety standards, and applicable state and organizational requirements.High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. One (1) year of experience in a mental health, behavioral health, residential, or crisis setting preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Oklahoma Driver's License and current automobile insurance. May be required to obtain and maintain an Oklahoma Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements and air brakes, as required by assignment. Ability to meet training, competency, and certification requirements associated with the position.Ability to provide continuous supervision and monitoring of clients in a residential or crisis setting. Knowledge of safety procedures, incident reporting, and documentation standards. Ability to follow detailed instructions, policies, and supervisory direction. Skill in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary residential environment. Ability to interact professionally and compassionately with clients experiencing mental health crises. Demonstrated ability to exercise mature judgment in dealing with clients, staff, and the public. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions in English. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a structured environment. Ability to participate in physical interventions, including restraint, when required for safety and trained to do so.Provide ongoing, immediate supervision of clients throughout assigned shifts. Document client activity every hour using required monitoring and check sheets. Record all client food and fluid intake and report any changes in eating habits to the shift supervisor. Report all observed accidents, incidents, and safety concerns immediately and complete required documentation. Report safety violations or hazards to the shift supervisor promptly. Assist in physical restraint of clients when required for the protection of the client or others and in accordance with training and policy. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, respect, personal interest, and positive engagement throughout the shift. Ensure daily personal hygiene needs of clients are met. Store client personal belongings appropriately and document as required. Wash hands before and after providing services to clients, particularly before and after serving food. Assist clinicians by working side-by-side with clients to support participation in services and promote recovery goals. Assist with daily laundry duties. Ensure client rooms are sanitized daily. Maintain clean and dry floors by sweeping and mopping daily. Vacuum carpeted areas daily. Shampoo carpeted areas weekly or as needed. Clean bathrooms daily, including toilets, showers, and mirrors. Empty trash cans daily and as needed. Clean glass surfaces daily. Wipe down chairs daily. Clean and defrost refrigerators and freezers as needed. Perform daily janitorial duties in accordance with facility standards. Provide transportation for registered clients in agency-owned vehicles as assigned. Maintain adequate fuel levels in agency vehicles. Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and vehicle operation requirements. Participate in staff meetings and required trainings. Perform all job-related travel normally associated with this position. Maintain regular and predictable attendance as an essential job requirement. Meet "satisfactory" expectations on all job performance evaluations. Quality of work will be evaluated through training outcomes, demonstrated skill, and competency. Perform other related duties as reasonably assigned by the immediate supervisor or management.Must perform all job duties as listed to meet position expectations. Demonstrates cooperative and professional working relationships with clients, staff, management, and external partners. Exercises sound judgment and professionalism in all interactions. Communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Maintains compliance with agency policies, safety standards, and documentation requirements.
